According to the rumour, the story of the Historical Çatma Mescit Bath is as follows...
Mimar Sinan, the greatest genius of the Ottoman period who shaped today's architecture, built the Kasım Paşa ‘Kasımpaşa Camii-i Kebir’ and ‘Büyük Hamam’. Since the prominent statesmen of the period did not want to share the ‘Büyük Hamam’ with the people and the working class, Sinan designed the ‘Çatma Mescit Hamam’ for the workers of the construction of the Golden Horn shipyard and the people. It was decided that the income from this bath would be used to meet the expenses of the Mosque and the needs of the muezzin. ‘Çatma Mescit Hamam’ was a gift of Kasım Pasha to his daughter Belkıs.

What to wear in the bath?
You will wear a special bath towel made of organic cotton or linen, called a peshtamal. This is a tradition that dates back to the Ottoman Empire.
How hot is the bath?
Turkish baths are generally between 40-50°C (104-122°F). Since you will only be wearing a loincloth, the temperature will be ideal for a relaxing hammam experience.
Where are your therapists from?
Our massage therapists come from the Far East, mainly from Indonesia and Thailand. In the traditional hammam, full body scrub and foam washing are performed by professional hammam attendants.
Can we enter the bath as a couple?
